In 2007 the Noa Art family moved from Scotland to New Zealand for six years. Over there houses are roofed with corrugated iron, giving many the appearance of an elaborate shed. Whilst they now think this style is great, it was a real shock at first. This experience gave them a deep love for the sturdy stone and slate of Scotland’s but ‘n’ ben’s, inspiring the art pieces and their slate mounts along the way

Since returning from New Zealand they have had a fourth child, a little girl, named Noa. The art work is signed in her name, which means “free from restriction” in Maori. There isn’t a word which could sum up the abstract and heavily textured interpretation of Scotland, the land of the free, more perfectly.
